Aims and objectives
University of the Arts London represents a unique, vibrant community facing an exciting range of opportunities and challenges, and with the potential to become the world's foremost learning centre for the arts.
This is our main objective and two significant global developments play to our advantage. First, the demand for post-school education is rising and second, there is a growing recognition of the importance of the creative industries and its need for relevant further and higher education. |
However, increased competition means the University must proactively meet the growing expectations of students, and provide a stepping-stone to successful careers. We shall do that by building on the strengths of each College, providing a comprehensive range of courses to a diverse student body.
Naturally, we need motivated staff capable of achieving our objectives - people who are entrepreneurial, creative and positive about change. To achieve this, our staffing and development strategy is improving recruitment and induction, winning Investors in People recognition, and re-training and re-deploying staff where change requires new skills. |
In short, the University must recruit and retain staff of the highest quality. Along with students and graduates they will define University of the Arts London as a special place in every sense.
We will put the needs of the students first, offer staff and students a passport to their potential, speak up for the arts and design community, invest in new partnerships, treat staff, students and others with respect, innovate and stimulate creativity, value diversity and eliminate discrimination, and excel in all we do.
